If you enjoyed Lord of the Rings, and wish you could find another series that captures the scope and grandeur of Tolkiens original, this may be the series for you. I have read more series of fantasy novels than I care to admit to over the past 25 years, and this series is hands down one of the best out there. It is set in a similar world to LOTR with humans, elves, dwarfs, halflings (hobbits), with wizards and rangers, assassins and barbarians, and the whole genre of DND fantasy. The writing style is engrossing and draws you in deeper and deeper. I found myself up many a night well past bedtime, because I wanted to read just one more chapter. An excellent read!

Start with book 1 to learn who Drizzt is and follow him through out his adventures as he discovers why he is not happy with his people. His day to day exposure to prejudice because of his skin is a subtle reflection on society, done in an entertaining way.
Well worth reading the whole series if you are into this type of story line.

This is the first time I have read fantasy and I am soooo glad my mother talked me into reading this series. I have not had this much fun reading about a character like Drizzt in so long…R.A.Salvatore did a a wonderful job with this series and I really look forward to finishing the rest of the books…

besides the fact that the legend of drizzt series is amazing within itself, i got the bookset for a good price and it was delivered on time. i was a little worried that since i was ordering books that some damage may ensue among shipping but i was pleased to find that it was wrapped and secured where none could occur.
